The end of 35mm?

Nikon UK has posted a press release here indicating that they are all but ending production of their 35mm film cameras, medium- and large-format lenses and enlarging equipment. The F6 35mm SLR will remain in production and be available in Europe and America, while the all-mechanical FM10 will be available outside of Europe. A number of manual lenses will remain in production as well. In general, film itself isn't going away any time soon, since digital cameras cannot replace medium and large format cameras, but this is clear evidence that the resolution and popularity of the digital medium have surpassed that of the 35mm format.

Pall

I arrived at Heathrow just hours after the Buncefield Explosion, seeing the pall over most of Hampshire and London. My good mate lives but 5 miles away from the site and has posted his set of geotagged photos, while one of my flickr contacts living a little further away took some excellent dawn shots. Also see the Buncefield Fuel Depot Explosion Pool for more photos.

Japan photos

I've uploaded my Japan photographs, including the Yokohama/Kamakura/Tokyo shots in the W3C Web Services F2F Japan 2005 Pool, which includes photos from other attendees. I greatly enjoy the different perspectives offered by the number of shots taken by different people at the same place and time.
