Dear Umit tagged me with the "five things you don't know about me" meme. As I have been able to finally catch my breath from ongoing activities, here are my 5:
1. I enjoy playing music, at present focussing on the piano, guitar (violão), and ukelele (cavaquinho). Although I have played a variety of musical instruments since I was young, I have only recently took up the piano, which is needless to say a bit late in life. However, #4 has been a great aid in developing the proper manual flexibility.
2. My favourite musical genre is sertanejo (Brazilian country music). My favourite song is "Saudade da minha terra", as sung by Tonico & Tinoco.
3. I have a soft spot for Antartica Guarana, Lucozade (particularly the apple-flavoured variety), and Dutch Zwartjes.
4. I practise Anusara Yoga.
5. My favourite book is "L`Etranger" by Albert Camus.
Compliments of Paul, a geography quiz that challenged me - although world geography is one of my favourite hobbies, I had quite a challenge to maneuver the mouse to countries such as Luxembourg, Singapore, or even Croatia - it was a easy to click outside the border as inside! Also, the lack of any reference on the map combined with its size forces one to concentrate to differentiate between nearby borders which appear similar at casual glance (on the small map I spent a second to make certain I clicked on Slovakia and not Hungary). It was fun be quizzed on the Republic of Congo vs. the Democratic Republic of Congo. :-) Yet I was able to notice certain oddities as the "Islamic Republic of Afghanistan" (I had not realised that the new government applied that long form).
i've posted a version of the jive dictionary on my wiki. i'll keep adding to it as i spend time in the field myself, or with those in the field....
