Half a day left of 2011, and I have a few moments to pen my thoughts of the year that has passed.
2011 has been a year which I would never exchange for any other. I have spent it with the most important people in my life. I have survived the end of one startup, and embarked on another. I have faced reversals of fortune, and taken a pig-headed willingness to look facts in the face and turn things around. I have never experienced such highs and lows in the same timeframe. This has been the most satisfying and uplifting time of my life.
As such I have been quieter than in past years, yet with your support, I have had the opportunity to turn my focus and energies to what really matters. Much of this has been behind-the-scenes work, in place of promotional activities. Much of this also has been taking very difficult decisions and swallowing the bitter pill. The plaudit "no pain, no gain" never has had as much meaning. Growth and development comes at a cost.
As I’ve been thinking about this past year, I realized I owed my general sense of well-being to all of you. Without you, your support, your feedback (even the harshest sort), and insights, I wouldn’t have the great pleasure of my gig, and being a part of the technologies, models, information and mindshare that are changing our very lives.
Thus, to all of you out there, thank you, truly and sincerely.
No matter where you are or who you are — whether you’re Tory or Labour, Mac or Windows, iOS or Android; Brazilian, Indian, British, American or a citizen of another country; chocolate lover or sorbet fan - have a Happy New Year and a great 2012.
And, yes, I do hope the Maya were off by a fantastic scale. :)
