The MeeGo open source project hosted by the Linux Foundation, and supported by Intel and Nokia, announced the project release for MeeGo v1.1. MeeGo provides a solid baseline for device vendors and developers to create software for a range of devices such as netbooks, tablets, handsets, media phones, smart TVs and in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) based on the Intel® Atom™ processor. Optimized for the Intel Atom processor, MeeGo delivers an exciting new internet experience on these devices. MeeGo was designed as a common software platform across various devices with adaptable, yet consistent, user experiences. SSG believes open source is the best method to engage the broad developer community and advance innovation in these new device categories. With MeeGo, companies can deliver a differentiated user experience that reaches across device categories and increases the opportunity for OEMs, application developers and service providers to reach more customers.
