"A collaboration between researchers at MIT, Carnegie Mellon Universitiy, and Akamai, is looking at a different kind of efficiency though. Rather than lowering the energy use of a data center they are instead looking at how to direct traffic to different data centers based on how cheap the electricity is to use at different times of day in different parts of the world."
