Code Camp Manifesto
Working with Duane, a manifesto for Boot Camps/Code Camps has been begun - to outline the nature of these events and their target.
So what are Code Camps, and who is their target audience? These statements attempt to explain this and how to operate such events. Here's a start:
- Code Camps Are By and For the Developer Community: Code Camps are about the developer community at large, and are meant to be a place for developers to come and learn from their peers. Topics are always based on community interest and never determined by anyone other than the community. As such Code Camps are largely unstructured and driven by the thread of discussion of the participants and community.
- Code Camps Are About Community Developed Material: The success of Code Camps is that they are based on community content. All content that is delivered is original. All presentation content must be provided completely (including code) without restriction. For restricted content, a forum other than a Code Camp would be preferred.
- No Fluff; Only Code: Code Camps are about showing and diving into the code. Any slideware is limited to 1-2 foils, primarily for whiteboard premise.
- Code Camps Are About Community Ownership: The most important element of a Code Camp is the developer community. All are welcome to attend and speak and do so without expectation of payment or any other compensation, beyond their participation.
Also, thanks to Duane I've hooked up with the LiveCycle Product Blog hosted by Adobe and Google. Now I can give a helping hand in answering the many perplexing questions regarding LiveCycle and how to use it....
